Lemon Tree is a new game starting in September 2011. But what is it?

You can score points for carrying out normal library activities. If you haven't yet started to play your library, register at http://library.hud.ac.uk/lemontree

Which phone number gets you through to our 24 hour IT support?

Our IT support number, 01484 473737 is staffed 24 hours a day.

Besides the direct web address, where else can you access your email?

The portal automatically logs you into many of our systems, including unimail; Unilearn; your personal storage area; Summon and your library account.

Printers and photocopiers are available on every floor. How much does it cost to print (or copy) a black and white, A4 page?

We set the charges for printing and copying to recover our costs and it is currently 4p for an A4 Black and White copy. Print from any PC in the computing and library centre, then go to a printer in any print hub (at the centre of each floor) to collect your work.

What do you think you can search for in Summon?

Summon is an easy way of searching for the many information resources we buy for you to use in your studies and also includes most items you can find on the library catalogue.

Roughly how many computers do we have?

We have around 500 computers, plus laptops that can be borrowed from the library and computing helpdesk.
Typically there will be many free for you to use, except around the middle of the day when many students come into the library between lectures. At these times a free computer may be harder to find. At busy times, look for the plasma screens in the library that display the numbers of free computers in each area.

How long is the loan period for a typical book?

We do have some higher demand items that can only be borrowed for shorter loan periods (2 days or 1 week), but most books can be borrowed for 2 weeks. If you want a book where all the copies are out, click "request" on the catalogue to be put into a queue to read it.
